昨日の雨が今日に続いていて、
午後遅くなっても降ったり止んだり
を繰り返していた。
朝雲が上がるとマジシャンが
布切れを翻したかのように
山の色が変化していた。
(写真ではよくわかりませんが…）

巨峰の収穫もあと1日ほどで終わりとなる。
遅ればせの礼肥として完熟有機堆肥を
畑に入れている。

ワイン葡萄の収穫も31日で最後。
天気になれば、暖かい日差しの下
ゆっくりと昼食がとれそうです。

The weather was not clear due to
the rain since yesterday. We had
scattered rain almost whole day
today until evening.

In the morning when the clouds went
off, the mountain showed the changing
colors as if a magician had turned up a cloth
on the stage.

Kyoho harvest season will soon finish
probably by one more day. I started
spreading organic compost in the vineyards.

Winegrape picking will be finishing
on the 31st. I hope we will be able to
enjoy lunch in the warm sunshine.

朝から一日中冷たい雨が降っている。
これだけ降るのは前回の台風18号の
上陸以来。

雨が降らなければ藁を取りに行って、
午後は蕎麦をコンバインで刈って
もらう予定だったのだが。藁は
この雨で濡れてしまった。雨が降って
濡れる前に取りに来た方がいいよと
言われていたのだが。今となっては
後の祭り。

明日の朝は雨の中の収穫となりそうだ。

そうそう、今が旬のシナノゴールド。
知り合いの農家からちょっと訳ありのもの、
お安く提供できそうです。

It's been raining whole day today
and the temperature stays low.
Such continuous rain is the first
one since last time when typhoon
No.18 struck east Japan around three
weeks agao.

If it had not been rain, I would have
gone to the rice paddie and collected
straws for my vineyard in the morning
and I would have had buck wheat
harvested by a machine this afternoon.
I was told to take straws before rain
and they would got heavy in vain.

It seems that kyoho picking tomorrow
morning will be in the rain.

By the way, Shinano Gold apples of reasonable
grade are available at reasonable price. Please
let me know if you want them.

遠くから、来て頂いただけで
感謝感謝なのに、過分な頂戴物など
頂いてしまって…。いいのかな～。
どれもワインに合いそうなもの
ばかりで、選んでくれたご夫妻の
気持ちがとてもよく伝わって
来ます。…正直とっても嬉しい。

そのうちの一つ、これは
綿の冊子のように縫い合わされて
います。
ページを繰るとワインのできるまで
が描かれています。

最後に縫い目をほどくと
手ぬぐいの出現です。
額に入れておきたいくらい。

あ、そういえば根子岳の
手ぬぐいを頼んでおいたんだ。

It is indeed very much appreciated
for the guest couple who came to Suzaka all
the way from a distance. What is more,
they brought me nice gifts
that I feel is too much. All of them
go well with wine. I feel very happy
to find their kindness to choose such
things.

One of them is this. It is like a cotton
booklet. When I turn the pages, I can see
the wine making process. After cutting the
thread and unfold the cotton tissue, I can
find it a Japanese towel. It looks as if a
woodprint or a picture that I want to frame
it.

Speaking of towel, I remembered ordering
Nekodake towel, too.

今日カベルネ・ソーヴィニオンの収穫会が
無事終わりました。当初予定を大幅に超える
40人近くが集まったので、朝始めた時は
今日中には無理かな、とふと感じたのですが、
おかげさまでお昼までにほぼ採り終えることが
できました。参加してくださった方々、
ありがとうございました。

横浜や東京方面、長野や中野、
小布施、そして地元須坂から多数参加
頂き感謝致します。3時頃までやってます
とお誘いしたのに、早々に終了してしまって
物足りなかったと感じていたらごめんなさい。

思わず、一週間後に予定している
シラーズも採っちゃおうかな、なんて
考えるほどスムーズでした。

今回は私も会員の、須坂市グリーンツーリズム研究会
の（市内旅行会社を通じての）初めてのツアーでも
あったのです。
ツアーに参加して頂いた方々、ありがとう
ございました。
一定の参加者があり、今後の課題なども見えてきて、
そういう意味でも良かったかなと思います。

来週中は大急ぎで残りの巨峰を収穫して
週末31日の収穫会で、今年の収穫は
終わりになります。あと一息。

Harvest of Cabernet Sauvignon completed.
Around 40 people which was more than expected
picked the grapes. In the morning when we
started harvest I thought we would not
finish today. But thanks to so many
participants, we were able to finish it
at lunch time. Thank you for your participation.

They are from Yokohama and Tokyo, Nagano, Nakano,
Obuse and Suzaka. I invited some of them
by telling that we would finish at around 3pm
but actually we finished earlier so I felt
sorry for those who did not pick enough grapes.

I just wondered if we would picke Shiraz whic
I expect to pick next weekend. The operation
was so smooth today.

This harvest was introduced to the public
as the harvest tour in Suzaka through
one of the local travel agent in collaboration
with Suzaka Green Tourism Study Group.
I thank you, the tour participants, too.
We were able to experience such a
tour in Suzaka and will make use of it
for the future events.

Next week, I have to finish pick kyoho
grapes during weekdays and also finish
the harvest of Shiraz and Sauvignon Blanc
on the weekend. I am almost there.

明日の収穫会、ぶどうは
カベルネ・ソーヴィニオンだけと
なりました。今日カベルネ・フランは
収穫してしまいました。
両方ではとても明日中に終わりそうも
なかったからです。
でも、二番成りは沢山ありますから
味見はできます。

昨夜ワイナリーへ持ち込んだ
メルローなどが除梗破砕されて
いるので、お昼に収穫コンテナーを
取りに。そして夕刻カベルネ・フランを
持ち込み、帰りには収穫コンテナーを
借りてきました。これで明日の
収穫の分は間に合うかな。

植えて4年目のフラン、移植して4年目の
ソーヴィニオンと、今年は葡萄の状態も
収量も良く、ワインには期待しています。
それぞれのヴァラエタル・ワイン
を作るのもそう遠くなさそうです。

We will pick only Cabernet Sauvignon
tomorrow. We finished picking Cabernet
Franc today as it seemed difficult
to harvest both grapes within tomorrow.
However, as there are many secondary
bunches, you can taste CF.

During lunch time I went to the winery
to collect harvest containers as Merlot
which I took to the winery last night should
have been destemed and crushed. Then in the
evening, I went to the winery again with the
harvested Cabernet Franc and borrowed their
harvest containers fro tomorrow's harvest.
I hope the number of container will be
enough for tomorrow.

The grape condition is good and the
yield is also good for the fourth year
Caberne Franc and also fourth year
Cabernet Sauvignon after replanting.
I believe they will make good wines.
I hope to be able to make varietal
wines of both grapes soon.
