8月に蒔いた蕎麦が
こんなに大きくなりました。
白と赤の花が満開です。

各地で蕎麦の花を見ながらの
蕎麦祭りやそば打ち大会が
開かれているようです。

巨峰は大分美味しいのが
取れるようになってきて
います。明後日は
地元のJA主催の
葡萄祭りが行われます。
販売できるのはJAだけで、
組合員でも売る事は
できないのせいか、
お祭りとしては
今一盛り上がりに
欠ける様な気がするのは
私だけか？

Buckwheat is in full
bloom now which we planted
in August.

It is the time when buchwheat festival
and buckwheat noodle making events are held
at many places.

Kyoho is getting tastier and
Grape Festival will be held by local
JA here the day after tomorrow.
However, the sale of grapes is monopolised
by JA only and individual growers are not
allowed to sell their own grapes there. Is that the
reason that I feel the festival does not
make an interesting event where many people
enjoy in many ways?

海外から若い友人が来たので
地元の若い友人等と私の
ワインに焼き鳥などと
出歩いていたりしていて、
二日ほどブログはお休みでした。

さて、巨峰は早朝に収穫します。
6時過ぎに畑に着くころ、
もう軽トラの荷台に3段も
収穫カゴを積み上げて帰る
農家がいたりします。

「ウワッ、早！」と一人ごとを
言って収穫を始めます。
ブルームが落ちづらいからと
早朝の収穫が推奨されていますが、
そんな時間に終わっているなんて、
色の区別がつかないうちから
とり始めてるに違いない。
いいのかな～、などと
余計なおせっかいか。

早朝りんご畑を通って巨峰畑に
行く途中に見えた妙覚山です。
朝霧のせいで
山のひだの陰影が
墨絵のようです。

I did not write blong for two todays.
I was out with a younger friend from
overseas together with local younger
friends. We enjoyed my wines and
skewed chiken(yakitori).

Now, we harvest Kyoho grapes early in the
morning. A little bit after 6am at the
vineyard, I saw other grapegrowers coming back
from their vineyards with kyoho grapes stucked
on the back of their utility vehicle.

I said to myself "Oops, so early!" when I start
my harvest. In order to keep better bloom condition,
harvest in the early morning is encouraged.
However, they must have started their harvest
too early to distinguish the colour of the grapes.
Is that all right ? I wonder but it's none of my
business!

I saw Myokakusan mountain from the apple orchard on
the way to my Kyoho vineyard in the morning. Due to
the morning mist, the silhouette of the mountain and
its pleats are as if it were an Indian-ink drawing.

今朝少々の雨。
予定していた作業はお流れ。
その後雨は上がり、
秋らしい天気になった。
巨峰の収穫も今日はないので
ワイン葡萄を見回って、
草刈り。雨が多いので草が
今でも随分と伸びる。

ワイン葡萄は、たっぷり水を吸った
せいかコンパクトな房のなかで
粒がつぶれ、変色
してしまっているものが多い。
そういう房は残念だが落とさなければ
ならない。

葡萄が傷む前に収穫を始めたいのだが
糖度がまだ上がっていないので、
もう少し待たねばならない。
種の色もまだ青く、熟すには
まだしばらくはかかりそうだし。
天気が続けば葡萄も
もちそうなのだが（という期待）。

Due to the little rain this morning, a scheduled
work was cancelled. The sky cleared up later and
it turned to be a fine autumnal day. As I did not
harvest Kyoho grapes today, I went out to check
wine grapes and later mowed in the vineyard.
Weeds have grown a lot because of the continued
rain since mid August.

I found many winegrape bunches rottened and
turned to brown colour. In the compact bunches, berries sucked
water and splitted to attract germs. I had no choice
but to drop such bunches reluctanly.

Looking at the grape condition, I want to start
harvesting before they are wasted but the sugar level
is not high enough and the greenish seed colour
indicates insufficient ripeness. It will take some
more time for harvest. I hope that better weather will continue and that the grapes will not be damaged any more.

巨峰の収穫と出荷が始まって
1週間。しばらくは贈答用に
使う畑の収穫を休むことにした。

少々天気が好転するのを待つことに
する。今でも十分美味しいが
作り手としては、もう一段
味が深まるのを期待しているのだ。

一昨日は贈答用2箱を作るために
畑へ何度も足を運ぶはめになった。
収穫するときには、房にかけてある
袋を破って色を確認してとっている。
が、作業所での仕分けで
味に満足しなかったので、
また別の畑に行って出せそうなものを
探していたのだ。

昨日は昨日でハネダシを大分出してしまった。
この時期としては、こんなにハネダシ
を出さないのだが、やはり出荷するのに
逡巡してしまったのだ。

バックログが大分たまってきたが、
贈答用に送り始めるのはやはり
9月10日を過ぎてからになりそうだ。
もちろん満足の行くものがとれたら
その都度送るつもりではあるが。

One week has passed since the fist shipment
of Kyoho. I decided not to continue harvest
for a couple of days, especially for the
gift grapes. I have harvested some buches from
every vineyard but the grapes are not
satisfactory to me yet. The colour and the taste
is not bad but I expect better quality grapes
for gift use.

I visited Kyoho vineyards a few times a day on the day
before yesterday to get satisfactory grapes for only two boxes
of gift grapes. I broke wrapping at site each time
I harvested to check whether the colour was OK or not.
However, I was not satisfied with the taste once
I checked them when I pack. I had to go to
other vineyards to get better ones.

Yesterday, I had so many bunches which I did not
ship anywhere but just gave away because I was not
satisfied with the quality for shipment. I always have
such 'stray' grapes but not so many for the beginning
of September. It means the weather has not been good enough
for the grapes this year so far.

I have a pile of orders from customers but I still have
to wait until around after September 10th. Of course I
will ship one by one once I get the grapes which
meet my criteria.

早朝、巨峰の収穫のため
畑においている一輪車に
カエルが物憂げに座っています。
物思いにふけっているのか、
今日の雨を想っているのか。

ちょっとどいてもらうために
手を差し伸べます。
自分の身長の何倍もの飛躍
をして草むらに飛行。

カエルというよりは、
ムササビかももんがです。
でも、こうやって物憂げな
姿が案外似合っています。

葡萄を包む袋を裂くと
甘い香りが漂います。

Early in the morning in the
Kyoho vineyard. On the one wheel cart,
there is a frog sitting. It looks as if it
was thinking something melancholically.
Or it was thinking today's rain.

I need him to change seat so I stretehced
my hand to it when it jump so high and far
and flew into the grasses.

It was rather a flying animal in the trees.
But sitting shape was much better it was like
a philosopher.

Upon breaking the wrapping, I can feel
strong sweet smell of Kyoho grapes.
