今日苗植え会に参加された方々の
おかげで、今年も無事ワイン葡萄を
植えることができました。
メルロー300本。
参加された方々ありがとうございました。

好天のもと、満開のりんごの花に
周囲を囲まれて、気持ちの良い
一日を一緒に過ごすことができて
よかったです。遠くから参加
された方も多かったのですが、
皆さん無事にお帰りになられ
ましたよね？

今回は望月さんのTMN関係の方の
参加が多く、そのうえ望月さん
まで『こんなところにいていいんですか』
という生徒さんの言葉にもあったように、
ツアーを中断してまであえて参加して
頂き感謝しております。

望月さん、宮嶋さんご夫妻、村上さん、浦野さん、
廣間さん、山際さん、福永さん、グレッグさん、
中曽根さん、相坂さん、市川さん、中村さん、
高津さん、福宏さん、横山さん、市村さん、
井上さん、塩入さん、としちゃん、神田さん。
差し入れで山菜のおひたしや味噌づけせんべいを
下さった高津さんの奥さん、テントを準備してくれた
北堀さん、焼肉を用意してくれた
弘子さん。皆さんありがとうございました。

とても作業が順調に進んで、畑の中の石を
集めたり、またワイヤについている無数の
ビニール紐やらマイカ線やらも綺麗に
して頂いて、感謝感謝です。
きっと皆さんの汗と労力に答える美味しい
葡萄ができ、美味しいワインができるものと
思います。どうぞ、楽しみにしていて下さい。
これからは、もっと皆さんとの
つながりが深められるようなプログラムを
考えてゆきたいと思います。

I thank you very much for the people
who participated today's vine
planting event at Kusunoki Vineyards.
All of 300 Merlot vines were planted.
I really enjoyed havign been with you
under the fine weather and sorrounded
by apple blossoms. It was indeed a nice day.
I believe that the people joinning from Tokyo
and Osaka direction have arrived home safe.

This time many members of TMN lead by Mr.
Mochiduki came to the event. Even Mr. Mochiduki's
presence was a surprise to his students and they
asked him if it was OK for him not to go on
a ski tour. Special thanks to Mochiduki-san
for your having come to this on such
an weekend.

Also thanks to Miyajima-san couple, Murakami-san,
Urano-san, Hiroma-san, Yamagiwa-san, Fukunaga-san,
Greg-san, Nakasone-san, Aisaka-san, Ichikawa-san,
Nakamura-san, Takatsu-san, Fukuhiro-san, Yokoyama-san,
Ichimura-san, Inoue-san, Shioiri-san, Toshi-chan,
and Kanda-san. Special thanks to Ms.Takatsu for
bringing wild vegetables dishes which everybody
appreciated very much and local pancakes with miso
pickles, Kitahori-san for having brought tents and
Hiroko-san for having prepared BBQ meat and veges.

The planting operation went very smoothly and
all of the participants helped me to pick
up rocks in the land and remove unwanted
ropes from the trellis wires. Thank you
agin for your kind hands.

I believe that the vines in response
to your labours put here will grow healthy
and produce good grapes which will eventually
bedome nice wines. I hope you will
enjoy it in a few years' time.
I think I will create programs that will
make our ties firmer, enjyoable
and someting fruitful to both parties.

農協のミニバックを借りてきて
明日苗木を植える穴を掘った。
その数300。午前中くらいで
終わるかなと思っていたが、
午後7時までかかってしまった。
昼間ミニバックの上で
ちょっと考えた。１つ穴を掘るのに
1分かかるとしたら全部で300分、
5時間だ。1分という事はないし、
休憩無しも考えられないので、
時間がかかって当然であった。

おっと、そういえば明日植える苗木の
切りつめをまだやってない。その数300。
1本に1分掛かるとして…
ちょっと困ったことに
なってしまうかな？

I borrowed a mini excavator
from JA and digged holes
for vine planting tomorrow.
The number of holes I digged
is 300. I expected to finish
it by noon time but actually
I finished at 7pm.
I happend to notice on the
excavator that it would take
200 min if it took only one
minute per hole. Five hours without
rest and one minute per hole
would not be possible. No wonder
it took so long time.

Then, I have not started ajusting
the length of the young vine yet.
I have 300 vines to go and if it took
one minute per vine then ...
I might be in a bit of trouble ?

明後日の苗植え会の準備が
進んでいます。今日は柱を設置。
苗木を植える位置を確定する
作業も始めました。
明日は穴掘り等々。

周囲のりんご畑では花摘みが
真っ盛り。また、人口受粉を
する人たちも今年は多い様に
感じます。寒い日が続いたので
受粉を確実にする為の作業です。
暖かい今日はきっと仕事が
進んだことでしょう。

The preparation for the vine
planting is in the progress.
I installed poles and started
marking the planting position.
I will dig the holes tomorrow.

In the sorrounding apple orchards,
I find many people picking flowers
to adjust the number of apples. This
year it seems there are many more
people doing hand pollination due to
the cold weather. Good weather like
today would surely help them make progress.

The photograph shows the Merlot
vines which I digged yesterday and
simmered in the water so that
the vines would take up much
enough water. I will adjust the
number of buds and the length
of the root just before the
planting.

明日以降の畑の作業の
段取りをすませてから
午後過ぎに峰の原に
上った。

味噌作りの第2弾で追加で10kgほど
仕込むことになっていたのだ。
少々早くついたら、須坂の伝統食
やしょうま作りの講習会の最中
であった。

米粉から作るやしょうまは
昔はお祭りの時などに貰ったり
余ったのをあぶって食べたりした
ものだ。久しぶりに懐かしい
味に触れた。最近は
切り口がちび丸子ちゃんだったり、
葡萄や桜の木だったりと
楽しみながら作っているようだ。

After having prepared for the
tomorrow's work in the vineyard,
I went to Minenohara Kogen Hegihts.

There we would have the second miso
making session and I was to make
additional 10kg of miso paste.
Having arrived there earlier, I found
the wives making Yahouma rice cake that
is the traditional food around Suzaka.

Yahsouma is made by rice powder and was
often given away at the time of festivals.
When it got cold, I used to grill it lightly
and ate with soy sauce with sugar. I was
a good old taste. Recently the wives enjoy
making them of which secction look a girl,
grape cluster, cherry tree,
etc.

毎日毎日寒い。
朝からずーっと畑に
出ているのでつらい。
しかもトラクターの上で
ひたすら運転という吹きっさらし
の中。　昼間は確かに晴天で
日光を受けている分には
いいのだけれど。
おかげで、喉は痛くなるし
頭もボーっとしている。

毎日霜注意報が出ていて、
今朝など霜が降りて真っ白に
なっていたらしい。
らしいというのも、
あまりに寒いので
そんなに早くは外には
でなかったので。

今年植える苗は仮植えしてあって
地表近くに横にして植えてあるので
様子を見に行ったら、山葡萄以外
は芽が出ておらずに無事。
芽が出てきた山葡萄も
無事であった。

とはいえ、今花が咲いている
りんごや梨、花が終わったとは
いえ桃やサクランボなどは
この低温で生理障害が
心配される。農家と顔を合わせると
『変な天気ですね～』が
挨拶代わりになっている。

It is cold every day. It's hard
for me as I am in the open field
whole day. What's more, when I spend
most of the time on the driver's seat
of the open tracktor, the cold wind
blows around me. When it shine, I feel
a bit better though. I got throat ache and
feel dizzy just a little.

Weather forecast warns frost everyday
and actually we seemed to have frost
this morning. I did not see it because
I did not go out so early because
it was so cold.

I have my young vines for planting
this weekend and I put them almost
lay down on the ground. So far their
buds are not coming out yet and
they are safe. Only idigenous grape
from mountains have bud burst
but they are OK, too.

But the farmers are worrying the damage
to the apples and pears which are in bloom
now and even though the flowers have
finished for the peaches and cherries, people
worry about the possible cold damage.
Everyday we say 'Isn't it weird weather, is it ?'
which replaces our usual hellow.
