巨峰は相変わらず。
袋の外から見ると
黒いようにも見えるが
袋を外すと、色のついて
いる粒と、なぜか
寒そうに見える真っ青な粒
のまぜこぜ。出荷開始は9月2日
と予定されているが、
うちは無理です！

ワイン葡萄は
白は、若干黄色を帯びてきたが
まだまだまだまだ。
今年は収穫が遅くなりそうだ。

赤は、ピノ、メルローは
色が着いてきている。
ピノは房によっては大分
黒く見えるが、よ～く見ると
色の乗りが薄い。
メルローの房落としを始めた。

Regarding Kyoho grape,
they look dark from outside
of the wrapping but actually
inside the bunch has some
dark berries and others
in green which look
very cold somehow. The first
shipment at local JA is scheduled
on September 2 but I cannot make
it!

Regarding winegrapes,
for white, the berries start having
yellowish colour but it is still
long way for ripenig. The harvest
must be delayed this year.

For red, Pinot Noir and Merlot
have many bunches with colour change.
Especially Pinot Noir has had dark colour
already but the colour is not dark enough
yet by the closer look.
I started bunch thinnign for Merlot just
today.

午前中とはいえ、さすがに
4時間もビーバーで草刈を
すると、身体にもこたえる。

今年植えたメルローの畑は
大分スッキリした。

今は、葡萄畑はどこも
草刈り。
桃は、白桃は出荷の後半、
黄金桃は玉廻しか。
りんごもつがるの出荷
が始まったようだ。

お盆も過ぎて、より一層の賑わいが
畑の中に戻ってきた。

It's kind of tough to mow
weeds with portable mower
for hour hours even in the
morning.

Thanks to the mowing, the new Merlot
vineyard now looks very neat.

Main operation in the vineyard
is mowing everywhere now.
For peaches, the shipping is
almost its peak time.
Ogontoh peaches need to turn
the fruits for better colour.
For apples, Tsugaru apple shipping
has just started.

残念な事に今日も摘房の続き。
大分落としている。
短い枝についている房は
やはり青々として着色が
大分遅れている様に見える。

これから先は大分天気が好い様で
其処までしなくてもとも
思うが、やはり生み出すエネルギーが
去年程度だとしたら、7月と8月お盆
までの天候を考えると
房数を調整した方が好いだろう。

大分蚊に食われてしまった。

今日も大分暑い日で、お盆を過ぎてからの
夏本番、という感じ。

It's sad to drop bunches but
I've got to do it. The bunces
on short shoots are very green
and their colour change seem
delayed.

Considering the expected good
weather from now on, I do not
have to do such but it's safe
to do so when I think about the
amount of produced energy which may
be same as that of last year from
this point of time, especially
considering the bad weather up
until just before Bon Festival.

I got many mosquito bites in
the vineyards!

It was very warm today and it reminds
me of mid summer heat just when we passed
the Bon Festival week.

お盆はどうでしたか？

前半はやはり雨が降ったり
していましたが、昨日今日と
良く晴れて、夏は暑かったんだと
思い出させてくれました。

親戚が尋ねてきたり、
ご馳走を食べたり、
中途半端に畑に出たり、
近くの交差点で事故が
あったり、
何をやったのか、
またやらなかったのか、
色々でしたが、
ま、お盆だからな
で片付けておきましょう。

気持ちが切り替わっても
替わらなくても、
明日からは秋モードに
向けて頑張りましょう。

How was your Bon Festival week?

It rained in the first part of
the period but it was very fine
yesterday and today which reminded
me that the summer is hot.

During this week, I had
relatives visiting from Tokyo,
ate a lot of dishses,
worked a bit in the vineyards,
saw traffic accident at the nearby
crossing, remembered little what I
had done or not,
and so on .... anything can be
excused for Bon Festival Week-
holiday week.

I have to force myself to focus
on the routine work from tomorrow
and have to prepare for the antumn
season. Let's get back to the
working attitude again!

A grateful situation and a sad situation.

三年ぶりくらいだろうか。
アデレードのワインメーカーの
友人夫婦から連絡があった。あちらも
色々大変らしい。南アメリカと
オーストラリアを行ったり来たり
しながら頑張ってるらしい。
大変ながらも、古い友人を
覚えていてくれて嬉しかった。

さて、今年の葡萄。
7月は平年の50％程しか日照量
がなかったらしい。8月も
雨がちな天気。
今日から房落としを始めた。
まず巨峰、これが終われば
ワイン葡萄だ。
午前の一時間ほどで120くらいの
房を落とした。こうして残った
房にエネルギーがまわって
色が着き、糖度が上がることを
期待している。熟して欲しいのだ。
大変な手間をかけて袋を掛け、
傘を掛けたのだが、更に手間をかけて
摘房しなければならない。
残念なことだ。

I got a message from a friend winemaker
in Australia. She sounds very busy going
up and down between Argentine and Australia.
It was very grateful that she still
remembered me.

No our grapes this year.
We had only 50% of sunshine hours
this July and we had rainy weather
in August.
I started dropping bunches today,
first Kyoho grapes and then winegrapes.
I dropped around 120 Kyoho bunces
in just one hour in the morning.
I hope the remaining bunches will
receive more energy to ripe and get
enough color. Certainly it is a sad
situation to thin bunches after we
spent so much time and efforts to
wrap and put umbrella.
