須坂市観光交流センターという建物が
ある。以前は個人宅だったのだが、当時は
木造3階建ての頑丈な建物で、たぶん繭を飼う
のにも使われていたはずだ。

畳の部屋にコタツなどあったりして意外と
アットホームな雰囲気。2階と3階をぶち抜いた
ホールは使用料が1時間200円と格安。
また、裏庭には話題の超低木仕立ての
「またげるりんごの木」も植わっている。

ここで、見つけたかわいらしい紙人形達。
華やかな絵巻か行列が題材なのか、これまた
ちょっとほっとする光景です。

There is a Visitor Center in down town Suzaka.
It used to be a three-storey private house and it
should have special room for silk worm growing,
I guess.

Now it is renovated to two-storey building making a
friendly atmosphere inside with a tatami room with
kotatsu heater. The hall in first storey has cozy hall
which is rent out for generous 200yen per hour. In its
backyard, there are a few extraordinary low trained
apple trees called ‘step over apple’ which are worth
viewing.

There I found pretty paper dolls’ display. It may be
a scene of a festival a few hundreds years agao which
creates a cute and relaxing scene.

今日は午前中から陽が出ていて
いい天気だった。ただ、いろいろと用事が
あり、畑に出たのは午後2時過ぎ。遠くから
チェーンソーの音が聞こえてくる。
剪定の続きをやる。マイナス10度の冷気が来る
前に防寒帯を巻かなきゃね。

It was a fine day with warm sunshine
whole day. Due to the things I have to settle
this morning, I was able to get out to the vineyard
only after 2pm. Chain saw noise was coming from
far. I continued to prune vines. I need to wrap the
vines in this vineyard before the cold air below
minus 10 degree C comes.

昨夜来の雪が里を一面白い世界に変えました。
朝だけでしたけどね。

で、昨日の続きをやりにここより300メートルほど
標高の高い畑に来て見ると、積雪20センチほど。
やりましたよ、今日も。剪定。

The snowfall since last night changed the
village scene into white in the morning.

I drove up to the vineyard at higher altitude
by 300m from here and found there was more
snowfall with around 20cm depth of snow.
I did prune today, of course!

年末はいろいろと忙しくしていて、年賀状もようやく
31日に投函しました。まだ届いていない方々、遅くなって
すみません。

今年は「時の鐘」を撞いて始まりました。
須坂藩の復元された鐘楼で一突き。
除夜の鐘ではないので、12時過ぎに撞き
初めです。

その後近くの神社仏閣お不動様を一回りして
新年が始まりました。

早速1日から畑で剪定です。雪も無く、天気もよくて
遅れを取り戻すべく三が日も剪定の予定です。
今年もいい葡萄といいワインをつくるんだとの
思いを込めて。

I was so busy towards the end of the last year and was not
able to send out the greeting cards until the evening of
December 31. Sorry for the late delivery of my cards.

For me, the new year began with the hitting the time
bell of Suzaka. As it was not the Bell in Buddhism, we
started hitting at just zero hour of the first day of
January. Then I walked around to visit the shrines,
temples, etc for worship.

The first day of the year also began in vineyard pruning
vines. With no snows and good weather, the operation was
smoother. I am planning to do it for the first three days although
they were special new year’s holidays. I will do it to make
good grapes and good wines again this year.

冬とはいえ、朝8時はもう明るい。
ただ、太陽が昇る位置が大分南にずれたので
丁度山のてっぺんから朝日がさすと
こんな感じになる。これが朝8時頃。

冬のことゆえ寒い朝だが、まだ水道線が
凍るほどではない
今年の冬は暖かい。

It is bright enough at 8am even in the mid winter/
But the place where the sun rises moves to the south.
Therefore the sun shows the rays of the light like
this in the morning.

It is cold in the morning. It is cold because it is winter
however it is not so cold as it freezes the running water.
It is warm winter this year.
