午後3時から午後9時まで！催される
納涼祭りの「おらがくに自慢」
というイベントでワイン等を
売ることになりました。

ただ、お酒を売る場合は
その場所を管轄する税務署へ
届出を出さなければなりません。

最近は規制が緩和されてきて
届出で良いということになりましたが
それでも、提出する書類は多くまた
その準備に神経を使います。
まして今回は初めての申請です。

これで、問題なければ
「良いですよ」という返事がくるのか
はたまた書類が足らないと言われるのか
どうなりますか。

そろそろ葡萄のヴェレゾンが
始まってます。写真はピノノワールの
今日の様子です。房の表面についている
白いものは先日散布したボルドーに
入っている石灰です。

There will be an event in Tokyo
called Azabu Juban Summer Festival.
It is open from 3pm to 9pm!
I will be participating in it at
Suzaka City booth and sell my wines,
etc.

In order to sell alchool beverage,
I have to submit documents to the
tax office in charge of the area.

Today the regulation has been softened
very much and only documents submission
is required. However, many documents are
required and careful preparation is
require. And it is the fist experience for me.

If my documents are OK, I will get a go ahead.
If not, I have to prepare more documents. Let's
wait and see.

Now it's time of veraison for grapes.
The photo shows the colour change of Pinot
Noir. The white colour on the bucnhes and
leaves is the lime of bordeaux spray.

山ノ内町の夜間瀬橋を渡った辺り
から須賀川にかけて
そこここの畑に蕎麦が蒔かれている。
休耕地が増えるのを憂いて、蕎麦作り
を奨励して十数年、今ではすっかり
蕎麦の里らしさが定着してきているようだ。

須坂で趣味の蕎麦作りのグループに
入って4年、年々会員が減り今までどおり
の蕎麦つくりが難しくなってきたおり、
大規模に蕎麦つくりをしているグループ
の話を聞き、その作り方を見学がてら
種まきのお手伝いをしてきた。

トラクターで耕運しておいた
畑に肥料を撒き同様に蕎麦の種を蒔き、
最後にトラクターで軽く耕運することで
覆土する。これだと、畝をたてる
必要が無いので、2ヘクタールの畑も
2時間ほどで作業終了。後は、収穫まで
待つだけだ。その収穫も
コンバインでやるので、大きな作業は無い。

簡単そうではあるが、だからといって
それだけでここまでの規模になったわけでは
無い。ちゃんとペイするようなシステムが
行政を巻き込んでできているのだ。ただ、
全てが行政頼りではなく、蕎麦つくりの
グループが積極的に販売ルートの開拓や
イベント、交流会等を催している。
全員女性である会員のそばを打つ技もプロ並に
なっている。14-5年はかかっているようだが、
続けること、続けられるシステムが
時間を掛けて構築されている。
女性の力はすごいね～。

From Yomase bridge in Yamanouchi-machi to Sugakawa area of
northern part of Shinshu, you can find
many buckwheat yards eleswhere. The start was
the worries over the abandoned farms and
the buchwheat growing was encouraged. Now the
area becomes the home of buckwheat noodle.

I joined a group of buckwheat growing and
soba making in Suzaka four years ago. But
the number of members declined every year and
the growing has become difficult. That's why
I participated today's soba seed planting there.
I heard that their way of growing soba is much
less time consuming than what we have done.

They just spread fertilizers and soba seeds
over the the planting yard which was cultivated
by tractor in advance. Then last and light cultivation
was carried out to cover the seeds with the ground.
No seeding rows are needed and it take only two hours
for about 10 workers to do the same for 2 ha of land.
The harvesting is very easy thanks to the harvester machine.

It may sound very easy but the easiness is
not the reason of today's success of soba
growing. They have their own system to pay
and make both ends meet by including
local town government. They are not dependent on
the government but are trying to make it
a business by developing sales routes and organizing
events, etc. They have improved their skills
to make soba noodle to the professional level.
It has taken for them more than 15 years but they have
made up their system to continue their soba growing
activities. Seventeen members are all women.
How wonderful and amazing women.

先日シンガポールから訪ねて来た
友人からメールが入り
「ワインも食事も美味しかった。
会う人皆親切だし。
畑を見れたのもよかった。
時間の流れがゆっくりで
とてもリフレッシュした。」
との事だった。
よかった、よかった。

「時間の流れがゆっくりといっても
実際は、農作業で追われていて
忙しくしているんですよ」などと
返事はしてみたものの、でもやはり、
考えてみると、田舎には都会や
彼のビジネスとは違う時間の
流れがあるのは事実だ。

葡萄なんか3年もすれば収穫できる。
りんごは（本格的には）5年かかるからな。
という農業の先輩の言葉を思い出す。

確かに、一昨年植えた葡萄はまだまだ
仕立て途中で、少々遅れていても
まあ、来年からだからな、などと
全然あわてなくなっている自分に驚く。

I got a message from a friend of mine who
visited me last week saying that he had
enjoye everything here, my wines, food,
kind people, my vineyard. He also says
that the time flow is slower than his and
he got very much refeshed. I am very glad
to hear that.

Even though I replied to him saying
that I was busy everyday being chased
by so many things to do in the vineyard,
it is true that our time in country is
very much different (slower) than that
in urban cities or that of his business
life.

It reminds me of my mentor farmer's
words that the grapes can be harvested
in third year but it takes five years
for apples.

I am surprised to find out
myself taking granted for such
time flow. When I watch young small vines which
I planted two years ago, I tell to myself that
they are only two years old and tehy will be fine
next year.

猛烈な暑さが続いていたが、
今日午前中は雨でやや涼しくなった。
とはいえ、午後は夏の日差しも戻って
蒸し暑くなった。それでも昨日の
36度超と比べると過ごしやすいといえる。

今日くらいの雨だと
作業は中止となる。
それでもワインの発送やらりんごジュース
の配達やらをして結構忙しい。
夕刻からは、半日の休養のせいか
大分体が軽くなった。

ワイン葡萄畑の草刈に
蕎麦畑の土おこし。
ビーバーが動かなくなったり、
乗用モアーが針金を巻き込んだり
とアクシデントはあるが
やっただけ作業は前に進む。
さて、明日も草刈だ。

先日ピノノワールの畑で
雉の巣を見つけた。卵が6-7個。
親鳥は私がその場を離れると戻ってきた。
さすがに静かに近づくと、緊張に満ちた目を
しつつも卵を抱き続けている。
そこだけは草むらのままにしてあるが、
雛がかえり無事に巣立って欲しいものだ。

沼目越瓜が大分伸びてきて、
なり花が大分咲いてきた。
いくつか瓜の赤ちゃんもできている。
これからどんどん大きくなってお盆過ぎには
収穫できる予定。楽しみです。

We had rainfall this morning which cooled down
summer heat a bit. Yesterday the temperature
went up over 36degrees C so it was rather
easy today even though we had summer sunshine this
afternoon thanks to the rain.

No vineyard work this morning due to rain but
I was busy by sending wines and delivering
apple juice. However, half day resting made me
feel much better and the power came back in the
afternoon.

I mowed weeds in a winegrape vineyard and
continued cultivation in buchwheat farm.
The manual mower (called bever) did not get
started and the mower got entangled with wires.
Despite of such accidents, the more I worked
the more the operation proceeded. Now
mowing tomorrow, too!

The other day in the Pinot Noir
vineyard, I found a phesant's nest with
6 to 7 pieces of eggs. After I left the nest
the female phesant came back and kept
holding the eggs. When I approached to the
nest, the phesant' eyes looked full of tensioned
but kept holding the eggs. I left the place untouched in the
weeds. I hope they will hatch and leave the nest in safe.

The vegetable melons keep growing and
the flower begin to bloom. Small melons
start forming the shape, baby melons.
I hope they will grow in good pace and that
we can harvest after Obon period in August.

ここ2日ほどイモを植えていた畑の草刈をした。
草がかなり伸びていたので、かなりてこずって
いる。ロータリーを入れても、草が絡み
ついて5メートルごとに絡んだ草を
とる作業になる。

ビーバーで草を細切れにしてからやることに
したら大分はかがいった。それにしても
種まきができるようになるにはあと2回は
ロータリーを入れる必要がありそうだ。

一応8月9日種まき予定です。

私は8月6日に、山ノ内町で2ヘクタールほど
蕎麦を作っているグループの種まきに実習
をかねて参加して来ます。今年は、ばら撒き
方式です。

These two days, I tried to mow the buckwheat yard
where we had harvested potatoes recently. As the
weed grew so high, the rotary cannot cultivate
the yard so easily as the weeds got entangled around
the blades. I have to stop every five meters of
mowing.

With an advice, I changed the way and used
disc saw (called bever) to cut the grasses
in shorter pieces. This way, cultivation got
smoother but it needs another two to three
times of cultivation before we plant
buchwheat.

We are planning to have seeding on August 9.

On August 6, I will go to join another
buchwheat seeding held by a group in
Yamanouchi town. This group of people
are much more professional than we and
they make buckwheat in 2ha of buckwheat
yard. In addition, they make their own
soba and sell the noodle and the buchwheat
powder. This year we will adpot their way
of planting seeds, spreading method.

It is very easy way but they need a special
harvester. They have one and we are going
to rent it for harvest.
