お盆の一日目。
朝お墓参りをして迎え火を焚く。
日差しは相変わらず肌にさす
様につよく、空気は熱い。

午前中畑の草刈り。暑さで喉が
乾く。時折珍しく風が吹いて
胸の辺りが楽になる。雲も
広がっている。それにしても暑い。

午後3時くらいまでは暑かったが、
遠く雷が聞こえ始める。どうやら
天気予報の通りに雨が来るのか。

午後5時頃夕立ちなのか、スコール
の様な激しい雨。ライトをつけて
走っている車が多い。大分暗い。

そのまま夜になり、やや小降りに
なりかけてはまた雨脚が強くなる
のを何度か繰り返した。

今年はこんな土砂降りが多い。
明日もこんな天気らしい。

First day of Obon. I went to
the cemetery to pray for the
family ancestors and burnt dry
wood bark of which light and fume is
considered to show the way to the
sprits to come back home.
The sun shines strongly and the air
is hot.

I went to a vineyard for mowig with
a hand held mower with engine. I became
very thirsty soon due to the heat.
But today I felt breeze which cooled down
the body a little bit and I found the sky
with more gray clouds than usual.

It was very hot until around 3pm when
I started hearing thunder from far away.
It would be raining as weather forecast.

It stared raining very heavily
at around 5pm like a tropical shower.
As it was so dark that many cars were running
with the lights on.

In the evening, it continued to rain sometimes
just a bit but soon very heavily.

We have had such sudden heavy rain falls this year.
It will be like this tomorrow again.

沼目越瓜が取れ始めている。
沢山花芽があるので、毎日沢山
食べごろなのができてくる。
予想以上だ。

お盆過ぎには納入先が決まっているが、
今のところはメンバーが家に持ち帰って
いる。

瓜の花はこんなものです。
一つの株から
花芽は２の二乗で増やしてゆき、
一つの花芽に実ができる。
１０回芽掻きをやると1,024個の
実がなる計算なのですごい
勢いで実ができます。

The harvest of Umame Shiouri
has begun. There are so many baby
melons and they become available
for harvest everyday. They are over
expectation.

After Obon week, there is a buyer for the
vegetables but now the member bring back home
so far.

The flower is like this. From one
base, the number of flower increases
by two multiplier by trimming.
So if I trim 10 times, there are 1024 pieces
of baby melons. So many melons everyday!

早朝からボルドー散布。
前回からそう日は経って
いないのですが、ベト病が
その後伸びた若い葉に
出ているので、除去して
蔓延しないように
icボルドー液を散布しました。

さて、ネット掛けの最中に
色が着き始めた葡萄が
鳥につつかれていたのが
あったので、多分と思って
いつも鳥にやられる畑に
行ってみると、案の定。
笠と袋がいくつか落とされています。
多分カラスですね。

袋に入ったままの房も
落とされています。困ったものです。
笠が被っているのに、こうやって
袋をつついて破ります。
そうして、食い散らかして
ゆきます。笠が邪魔なのは
くちばしが届く範囲で
つつかれてます。

I sprayed bordeaux today starting
very early morning and finished
after noon. It was so hot!
It did not take long after
last spray but as I found young
leaves coming out since last spray
were infected with downy mildew I sprayed
so-called ic-bordeaux.

During the netting the other day
I found a few berries eaten by
birds which made me wonder about
Kyoho grape. I worried about the vineyard
where the grapes were always attacked
by birds every year. As I thought it,
some of the bunches were attacked by
birds, most likely by crows.

I found many wraps and parasols were
on the ground. They break wraps like the picture
and eat a few berries. If the parasols were strong
enough, they give up after poking a few berries.
Without wraps and parasols, the damage would be
much bigger and the vineyards would become a
feeding spot. I found a few whole bunches dropped
on the ground with perfect wrapping and parasol, too.

今日夕方蕎麦の種を蒔いた。
山ノ内町でやっているように
バラ蒔き方法で、1反分4kgの種を
蒔き、そのごトラクターで浅く
耕して覆土する。順調に行けば
3日ほどで発芽するはず。
草にならないことを
祈るのみ。

途中お茶をして、
最近収穫が始まった
沼目越瓜の浅漬け
等を頂く。

食感が他の瓜よりしっかり
している。漬物にしても
良さそう。これからかなり
沢山取れそうで、
納入することになっている
味噌屋さん以外にも
出荷先を開拓しなければ。

We spreaded buckwheat seeds in
our yard which we had harvested
potatoes the other day. As learned
from the group in Yamanouchi town,
we did not plant the seeds but
spread over the yard which had been cultivated
a few times and cultivated again very shallow
depth which actually spreaded soil over the
seeds. We can see the sprouts in a few days.
We should cross our fingers for no weed
problem.

After the spreading, we had tea break
with the vegetable melons that our members
picked from our yard. Japanese and vinegar pickles
were served. This Numame Shirouri melong has firmer
texture than other melongs and it seems very good
if it is pickled in Japanese ways.

As we can harvest a lot, we have to find out
other buyers than a miso company which had
already commited to purchase a few hundred kilos.

お盆も近くなり、葡萄も大分色づいて
きました。昨日、今日と
ネット掛けを始めました。
昨日はピノノワールとソーヴィニオン・ブラン。
今日はセミヨンです。

ソービニオン・ブランの畑で
摘芯・誘引をしてネット掛けを
していたら鳥の巣を発見。
もぬけのからですが、こんなところ
にも巣を作っていたのですね。
麻紐やらなにやら人の持ち物も
使っているようです。

As Obon is approaching and the grape
is getting coloured, I started the netting
on the vines yesterday and today.

I found an empty bird nest in Sauvingon Blan
vines. There were no eggs or birds. The nest was
made with linen thread and other man-made
materials.
