今時分にしては、葡萄畑に大分
大勢の人が入っているのに
気がついただろうか。
幹線沿いの畑の側にも大分
車が止まっている。
摘粒をしているのだ。

例年なら、今年のように
房切り時のように大勢が何日も
畑にいる事はないのだが。

やはり、開花時期の低温がきいて
いるのだ。巨峰に生理障害が起きて
種無しの粒が入る、
いわゆる　親子房　が大量に発生して
いて、その子の粒を抜く作業が
行われているのだ。

写真がぼけでしまっているが、
一番上が親子房。大きい粒（種入り）と
小さい粒（種無し）が混在している。
このままでは商品価値が下がってしまう
ので、小さい粒を除くのだ。

通常は２番目写真のように大きい粒だけの房が
できて、粒の数を３５程度にするのが
摘粒なのだが、今年は困ったことだ。

また、房切りを長めにやった房は、逆に
「流れ房」といって、粒の数が確保できない
状態になっている。写真がぼけていて
見ずらいが、わかるだろうか。

今年は、どの畑もこのような現象が起きていて
まともな房が少ないのだ。巨峰栽培農家は
畑に出るたびに　ため息が出てしまうのだ。

Have you noticed that there are
so many people in any Kyoho vineyards
everywhere these days ?
Also there are many cars
parking near main roads by the
farm yards. The people are indulged in
the berry thinning.

Usually we don't see so many peole
in the vineyards as
bunch forming season at this moment.

This is because of the low temperature at
the time of flowering. The pollination did
not occur normally in early June. Then
seedless berries which are very small than
seeded berries are produced. The people are
busy removing such small seedless berries now.
These small berries are also called shot berries.

Sorry for vague pictures but the first one
shows the mixture of normal seeded berries and
shot berries which is called OYAKO bunch.
Such bunch is priced much less than normal
bunch in the market. So grapegrowers need
remove shot berries.

Normal bunch is usually like the one in the
second picture and the berry thinning means
adjusting berry number to around 35.
However, it is so troublesome this year.

Meanwhile, scattered berries have occurred
on the bunches of which bunch forming was
rather longer. Such bunch shown as third picture
is called NAGARE bunch and has fewer berries.

Such phenomena occurred in almost every
Kyoho vineyards due to the weather. Kyoho
growers cannot help but sighing everytime they
come into the vineyards.

自称ワイン娘達のお手伝いを
お願いしてワイン葡萄の誘引の
真っ最中。

シャルドネ、メルロー、セミヨンが終わり、
後はピノ・ノワールに赤3種ほど残っている。

ほんの数日前までは（といっても
2週間ほどは経っているのですが）
それほどでもなかった
新梢が伸びて頑張っているのを見ると
ゾクゾクするほどの感動を覚える。
お、これは今年はいい葡萄ができそうな
予感！

結果はまだ先にならないとわからないですが、
その姿がひ弱にさえ見えた昨年と比べると
とても力強いのだ。

セミヨンもソービニオン・ブランも
今年はより良い葡萄になりそうです。
頼むぞワイン葡萄！

With hands of so-called (self called)
Wine Girls, the training operation is
underway in the wingegrape vineyards.

I have finished Chardonnay, Merlot and
Semillon. The rest are Pinot Noir and other
three kinds of reds.

Only a few days ago (it seems a few days
but actually at least 2 weeks ago), the
shoots were not so long but today
they are longer and so strong which
touched me and I am so excited with
great expectation of great harvest.

Of course we can tell if it is great or not
four month later. But they look so solid
and growing strong.

Semillon and Sauvingon Blanc also look
very promissing. Hopeful winegrapes!

不景気下のインフレ。
と知識でその言葉を知っては
いたが、まさかそんなことが
実際に起こるとは思ってもいなかった。
何故、景気が悪いのに物価が上がるの
かと。

今のスタグフレーションは1970年代
以来のものだという。当時
そんな状況があった事は認識して
いなかったのだ。

7月はまた値上げの月だという。
ガソリン、ガス、食用油等々。
マスコミでは飛行機代に上乗せされる
燃油サーチャージの話題が取り上げられ
ている。

また、燃料代高騰に抗議して
7月15日には全国一斉休漁が計画されている
という。農家ができる抗議は何だろうか。
農作業を休むわけにもいかないし。
不売運動や出荷自粛では自分の首を絞めてしまう。
農協がその購買力をてこに肥料、農薬、資材の
販売会社や政府に抗議をするという話も聞かない。
こういう時にこそ、その存在意義を大いに
アピールして欲しいものだ。

It stands for the inflation under recession.
I have heard of it but never imagined it would
happen while I am alive. I did not understand
why the consumer prices would go up while
the economy is in downturn.

It is said that the current stagflation is the
second one since 1970s. I don't remember it actually
happend then.

July is another month of price hike.
Car fuel, gas, food oil,etc. Media
are talking about the surcharge which
is added to the flight ticket. Depending on
the destination, the surcharge is almost
same as flight ticket.

The fishermen are suffering from the
fule price and make an appeal to the
ruling Liberal Democratic Party to
subsidy the fuel cost for them, and they
are planning a suspension of fishing throughout
Japan on July 15 as the protest.

Then what can farmers do ?
We cannot suspend taking care of fruit, veges,
animals, etc. If we suspend from selling our
produce, we will kill ourselves.

Meanwhile we have never heard that Japan Agriculture
Cooperation (JA) would make any protest against the
sellers of fertilizers, chemicals, materials, etc.,nor
against the government. It is the time that JA
should prove its raison-d'etre for farmers.

農協が販売する肥料の価格
が6割値上げされるという、
トンでもないことになっている。
7月1日かららしいが、農協の
末端の購買部では、明日から
価格がどうなるのか連絡はないという。
とりあえずスペキュレーションで
肥料を400ｋｇほど買ったが、
今秋分だけなので、来年は
高くなったものを買わねばならない。

原料のリン鉱石の輸入価格が
上昇しているせいだ、とは言うのだが。

窒素、燐酸、カリ　というのは
肥料の3大基本要素だが、その一つの
輸入価格が2～3倍になったからといって
全ての肥料がいきなり6割高になるもの
なのか。農協は企業努力で価格を抑えることは
できないのか。

ガソリン、資材、農薬、そして肥料と
何でも値上がりしている。それこそ有無を
言わさず。それで農家の生産物の
価格が抑えられていたら、何のために
農業をしているのかわからなくなる。
さして生業としての農業の意味を
有しない高齢者農家の離農は進むだろうな。

葡萄は作り始めたらやめるわけには行かないのだ。
とりあえず1～2年休んで、などという
ことができないのが果樹だ。

It is said that the JA increases the
fertilizer price by 60% from July 1.
But small JA shop people did not know
how the retail prices up. I bought
around 400kg of fertilizers on
speculation today but in any way
I have to pay the new rate from next
year.

I hear the reason of price hike is
due to the import price hike of phosphate
ore.

Nitrogen, Phospher and Ptasium are the
basic three elements as fertilizer. Only one
of them went up 2-3 times, why all the
fertilizers would go up ? Can't JA try to
sustain price by its own efforts instead of
imposing new prices on farmers.

Everything goes up including gas, materials,
chemicals, fertilizers, etc., no buffers to
the farmers. And then if the prices of
agricultural produce was sustained at lower
level, how can farming is possible?
Why do we have to carry on as farmers in such
worse condition. Those farmers who are old enought
and who does not rely on their sales for living would
give up continuing agriculture.

Once you start growing grapes, you cannot
quit or take rest, say, for 1-2 years.
That is the fate of fruit producers.
