We crushed Pinot Noir and Riesling which
we had harvest during last week together
with Viognier and Merlot we had harvested
last week end as an event.
Some more crushing grapes and bottling are
in this week's schedule. No wonder I have no
time to do other things again.

We had harvest event two days in a row this weekend.
Not too many participants but mostly very keen pickers
this time. Two of them came from Kobe, and the others
were from Tokyo area. One of them got on the first Tsukuba Express
at 5am then Nagano Shinkansen bullet train. Thank you very much
for you coming all the way from the distance.
We picked Viognier on the first day followed by Merlot after lunch.
We prepared for lunch BBQ with oyaki, our local soul food, mushroom
Soup and apples and grapes.
We had very fine and calm weather for two days and I hoped they
had very very good and fun time.
On the second day, we had five people from Osaka area with the same
people from Tokyo as first day. Many cases of Merlot were picked. For
lunch, we had very simple dishes, Imoni, a traditional food from Tohoku
area with taro potato and beef. But we enjoyed, original soup taste, with
udon noodle and finally curry udon. Three tastes from one big pot.
All of them stayed either at pension guest houses in Minenohara or
inn inside the city. They enjoyed hot spring, shopping miso and fruit,
and especially the beautiful nature around us. Thank you very much
for your coming and for your big smiles that always make us happy.

Mr. Tatsumi introduced Kusunoki Winery and its wines
in his blog. Please find it here dated October 8.
This is Neko-dake mountain seen from JA building,
Nagano city today.
The air began to change to be chilly and the chestnut
in Seni was like this.

In a deepening autumn day, Mr. Takuro Tatsumi, a famous actor
and wine lover, joined our harvest event. He visited us to shoot his
TV program on wine by BS Fuji. Other participants of the event
were overwhelmed and happy to share the chance to see and chat
with the famous actor. He allowed us to take photos but I felt sorry
for a bit too much photographing too closely. But he did not complaint
and was rather frank and humble and we all loved the time with him.
He voluntarily cooked noodles and oyaki on the BBQ pan and
talked to us frankly, too.
After moving to the winery, we showed him the inside of the winery
and the shop. He tasted many wines and the scheduled time was
well over but stayed to choose wines to use on his program. He told me that
he did not want to introduce the same variety he had used for other wineries.
I was touched that he was so serious about the tasting and selecting wine.
I cannot help but saying thank you to Mr. Tatsumi and all the staff for the
patience and the seriousness that all of you showed us. Thank you for
especially having choosing this small and unknown winery.
On the following day, we continued the harvest of chardonnay at another
Vineyard under the warm sun shine. We destemmed, crushed and pressed
the grape. The green berries shined in brilliant jade color like the jem.

We have crushed and processed a lot of decent
amount of grapes today.
