今日から連休中は好天が続くようだ。
巨峰ももう直ぐ発芽だ。

去年の今頃は苗植えの準備で
大忙しだったな～。結構冷たい
風が吹いていたのを覚えている。

今年は植え直しをやっている。
凍害やら穿孔虫にやられた葡萄
の樹の後地に台木を植えているのだ。
仮植えしておいた2年目と3年目の
台木。6月に緑枝接木をかける。
今年の冬はヒートベッドを
作って接木苗を作ろうと思う。

ライ麦を植えたメルローの畑。
土壌改良のために根が深く張る
ライ麦を植えたのだ。一番何が
効果的なのか色々と試みている。
良い葡萄を作るためです。

I was very busy this time last year
preparing for the new planting of
Merlot. I remember we had cold wind
during the preparation.

I am doing re-planting this year.
There are many vines damaged by
cold injury or killed by hole borers.
So I am planting one to two years old
rootstocks in the vacancies. Then I will
do green grafting in June. I think it
easier to use grafted vines so I plan to
make a heat bed this winter.

The photo shows the Merlot vineyard
where I planted rye.The soil need
ameriolation so I chose rye as its
roots penetrate deep into the soil.
I am trying a few things to get
better grapes.

I had an old friend visiting his home
town from a distance. It was rainy in
the morning and turned to be fine
in the afternoon with chilly wind.

サクランボの花です。
今年は低温で訪花昆虫が
期待できないので
人工授粉をしてくださいという
農協からの通知を見ました。
この時期、他には、桃や梨、
それにプラムにプルーン、
りんごもその対象ですね。
葡萄は、自家受粉なので
人工授粉は必要ないのです。
といっても葡萄の花は6月に入って
ですけどね。

シャルドネの芽が大分大きく
なってきました。

JA announces and encourages farmers
to do pollenation by hand because
natural pollenation by insects is
not expected this year due to
lower than usual temperature.
All the farmers growing peach, pear,
prum, prune and apples are busy
doing so in addition to flower
thinning.

Here is chardonnay bud getting bigger
in my vineyard.

強風が吹いて桜が舞った。
良く口にはするが、今日ほどの
桜吹雪は初めてだった。
冬の夜、街灯に映し出された
吹雪のように、背景が見えずに
桜の花びらが激しく風に舞う。
あわててカメラを向けても
後の祭り。同じような光景は
もう見られない。

Flower petals of cherry blossoms were blown
by the strong wind and it looked like a
snowstom in winter. We often mention it but
I have never seen such one. It was like a
snowstom seen in the road light during
mid winter. The background was not seen
but only cherry petals in the strong wind.
I took out a camera but it was too late
to catch it and waited for next one
in vain.

畑の中が大分明るくなってきた。
今は、プラムやプルーンが満開。
菜の花の黄色が鮮やかです。

サクランボも咲き始めた。
りんごはこれからですが、
ふじは蕾のうちは赤い花びらが
見えています。紅玉の方が
大分大きくなってきています。
この辺ではまずつがるから
咲き始めるのですが。今年は
少し遅そうです。

The farms have been brighten up
recently. Prum and prune are in full
bloom and the rape blossoms are
in shining yellow.

Cherry buds have started opening white.
Apple flowers have not yet opened but
red buds of Fuji are seen. Kogyok buds
are bigger and more reddish. Usually
Tsugaru apples are first to bloom
around here but it seems late
this year.
