須坂に2－3本しかないという菊桜の
1本をあるお宅で見せて頂いた。
兼六園が菊桜で有名なようだ。

葉が出てから白い可憐な花を咲かせる。
まだ3分咲きか。大分
葉が大きいので花が目立たない。

花は確かに菊の花のようである。
その目立たなさと可憐さが
独特の雰囲気を醸し出す。

まだ開かないうちは小さく赤く
くしゃくしゃっとしている。
ソメイヨシノの花が散った後の
様子にも似ている。

I visited a house in Suzaka where
one of a few chrysanthemum cherry
is in bloom. Kenroku-en seems famous
with the same kind of tree.

The blossoms are in bloom only
after young leaves opne. It was just
the beginning of the bloom today and
only 30-40% are flowering. As the leaves
were already big, the blossoms were not
exposed.

The flower looks like chrysanthemum
flower with tens to a few hundreds of
petals. The moderate and lovely blossoms
make it different from other cherry
blossoms.

The flowers still not yet unfold are
small, in red color and look crumpled
which look like the left overs of
someiyoshino cherry blossoms after
dropping their flower petals.

今日は大分暑くなった。
松本では30度を越えたらしい。
この陽気でりんごの開花が一気に
進んで、8分咲きくらいか。

山も大分緑になってきた。
去年よりも桜の樹が随分増えた
気がする。山肌はまるでモザイクか
パッチワークの様にも見える。

空気は霞だか黄砂だかに煙っている。
夕陽が落ちる頃には漸く涼やかになり
気持ちも落ち着いてくる。

It was a very warm day today.
I heard the temperature in Matsumoto
went up over 30C degrees today. The
apple blossoms around here advanced
a lot due to the weather and are getting
to full bloom.

The mountain bcomes greener now and
more mountain cherries are spotted
in the slope. It seems like a mozaic or
patch work kilt.

The air was a bit hazy due to the
weather or yellow sands from China.
It got cooler toward the sunset which
also cooled down my soul.

というより初夏の陽気
長野でも26度を越えたらしい。
シャルドネ畑越しに見る北信五岳。

漸くりんごの花もちらほらと
咲き始めた。

Or rather, it is early summer weather.
I hear the temperature went up beyong
26C degree in Nagano.
Hokushin Gogaku Five Mountains were
seen vaguely over chardonnay vineyard.

The apple blossoms were also seen
a bit here and there.

But the buds of chardoonay are still like
this.

5月の連休は例年何時も暑い位の気温に
なる。今年は爽やかな好天が続いて
いる。

おかげで巨峰の芽吹きも始まった。
りんごも明日当たりから咲きはじめる
だろう。

Every year we always have very good weather during
the Golden Week in May and the temperature
becomes very warm. This year, we have very
mild fine weather.

Thanks to it, Kyoho grapes have just
started bud bursting. The apple blossoms
will be in bloom from tomorrow.

The cars are swimming calmly in the fine
blue sky. It makes me feel doing nothing
but relaxing.

そういえばペタルマにも行ったのだった。
1日目レイン・ヴィニヤードからの帰り道に
ペタルマ・ブリッジワオーター・ミルに
寄った。こちらは10人を越えるので前日に
も顔を出して聞いてみたらＯＫだということ
だったので。ワイナリーによっては団体だと
テイスティングが有料になったりする
ところがあるのだが、ここは問題なかった。
今は日本のビール会社が親会社を支配している。

ここはセラードアと、あまりにも有名な
レストランがある。このレストランで昼食
をとも思ったが、新星のレインにしたのだった。

ワインの品質には定評があり、あまりにも有名なため
ちょっと高めという人もいる。スパークリング、
白、赤どれもクリーンでうまい。ここの
クローザーというスパークリングが日本で
手に入ればいいのに。

リースリングが特に知られているが
ソーヴィニオン・ブラン、ヴィオニエ、
シャルドネもいい。ペタルマ・シャルドネは
何となく楠ヴィニヤーズのシャルドネ2008と
イメージが重なる…と、すいません。

ここの赤は一部アデレード・ヒルズがあるが
ほとんどがクーナワラのカベルネとメルローだ。
セラードアでバックビンテージが買えるのは
結構珍しい。

I forget to mention about Petaluma.
On the way back from The Lane Vineyard,
we stopped by at Petaluma Bridgewater
Mill . As we were more than 10 people,
I had visited the previous day and confired
if they would accept us or not. There was
no propblem luckily. Some wineries would
charge extra for the tasting to the group visitors
but not here. The winery's major shareholder is a
NZ company and that company is owned by a Japanese
beer company.

Here they have a cellar door and a very reputed
restaurant. I wondered if we would take lunch
here or not and finally choose The Lane as it
was a rising star winery in the Adelaide Hills.

At Petaluma, the quality of wines are highly
regarded and some people they their pricing
was a bit too high due to the reputation.
Anyhow, all the tasted wines were very good
including sparkling. I wish to buy their
Croser, a sparkling wine, in Japan.

Their Riesling is very famous but other whites
were all good, Sauvignon Blanc, Viogner, Chardonnay,
etc. The image of Petaluma Chardonnay seemed to me
resembling to Kusunoki Vineyards Chardonnay 2008
..., I may have put it too much.

They had Adelaide Hills Shiraz but most of their
reds were Coonawara Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
Surprisingly, they had back vintage of red wiens
at the cellar door and we were able to buy
some.
