投稿の詳細: 山のわさび　Wasabi in the mountains

今朝は雨。
たまたま訪ねた友人が
山にわさびを取りにゆくという
ので連れて行ってもらった。

片道1時間ほどを車で走り
山の中へ。彼の畑なのだが、
どうみても山の斜面にしか
見えない。そこを湧き水が
流れ落ちている。

昔から湧き水を斜面に回して
そこが畑になっているわけだ。
伊豆や安曇野のわさび畑とは
随分と趣が違う。栽培してある
というよりは、自然ものだ。

こんな貴重なものを頂いて
いいものかと思う。

野菜は自家栽培や頂き物の
無農薬。キノコやわさびは
天然物。農薬や化学肥料
使い放題、調味料使い放題
の食材とはかけ離れた
実質とても贅沢な暮らしが
ここにはあるね～。

It rained this morining.
I visited one of my frineds who
was going out to harvest wasabi
from his 'yard' in the mountains.
I asked him to take me there.

It was in the mountains of
around one-hour drive. It was
his yard but indeed it was just
a slope of the mountain where the fresh
water was coming down.

According to him, the fountain water
was intentionally directed to come
down the slope to grow wasabi plants
on the slope. It was very much different
from famous wasabe farm in Izu or Asumino.
These wasabi plant looks as if they were
quite wild but not grown ones.

I feel sorry to be given such
precious things.

The veges I get around here are
either grown by myself or somebody
and are free of chemicals. Mashroom
and wasabe is almost natural. These
foods are far from those grown with
chemical fertilizers and sprays and
cooked with industrially made ingredients.
What a rich life we live
in the rural community !
