メルローの畑で1本だけ葉の色が
薄い樹がある。　若い樹ではよくあること
だし、今まではどの樹の葉も
同じ色なので気づかなかった。

もしや、と思い根元を見ると
土際に木屑のようなものが
見える。やはりやられていた。

芯喰い虫こと、ブドウトラカミカリ
か、蝙蝠蛾の幼虫が喰い入れている。
根元をぐるっと一周削るように
食べてから、幹の中に大きな空洞を
あけて巣としているのだ。
巣穴はかなり深い。

薬を注入したが、これだけ
幹の中心を喰い入れていると
この樹はダメかも知れない。

毎年、この時期から
収穫に掛けて、葉の色が
変化している樹をみると
大抵この虫が入っている。

ワイン葡萄に限らず
巨峰など生食用の
葡萄の樹にも被害が出る。
最近被害が増えているという
話も聞く。薬を塗っておいても
食われる時は食われてしまう。
困ったものだ。

I noticed that the leaf colour
of one Merlot vine is different
from others. I did not
know it before as all the
leaves were almost in same
colour. And pale green colour
is common for young vine.

However, at the bottom of the
vine, I found something like
saw dust. It was there !

The vine was damaged by warm which
eats inside the vine. A kind or beatle
or larva of certain moth eats in the
vine. The circumferance of the trunk
was eaten up and the center of trunk
was digged as its nest. The whole was
very deep.

I sprayed pesticide but it may be
too late. The vine may not survive.

Every year, from this season to
the harvest season, one or two vines
which have different leaf colour from
other vines are damaged by these pest.

Not only winegrape vines
but also table grape vines
are damaged recently. It occurs
more frequently than before.
Even though certain pesticeds are
applied to the vines like painting,
when the pest comes, we always get
these damages. Such a trouble some
pest!
