今朝も、そして夕方も
雨が降ったのだが、
こんなさして大きくない
須坂市でも、場所によって
随分降り様が違うのだ。

須坂市は南から
八町山、坂田とそれに連なる明覚山と
妙徳山、そして小布施の雁田山と
3つの山塊に囲まれて大きく2分されて
千曲川へ下る坂の町だ。

八町山と坂田の山に囲まれる扇状地
には鮎川、百々川（どどがわ）、灰野川
が流れており、坂田の山と雁田山に
囲まれる扇状地（日滝原）には八木沢川と松川
が流れている。

昔から、南から北に向かって川を越す
度に積雪が10センチ違うといわれているが、
雨の降り方も大分違う。

今朝、日滝原では8時頃にかけて1時間ほど
強い雨が降ったようだ。私は坂田の南側にある
畑（野辺）にいたのだが、雨はパラパラと
しただけだった。坂田山のトンネルの
北側では大分濡れたが、トンネルを
越えると道は乾いていたそうだ。

午後4時頃日滝地域では雨が降った。
トンネルを越えたあたりでも結構降ったが、
それより上（村石）辺りでは全然
降らなかった。

午後5時過ぎ、坂田当たりでは農作業を
あきらめるほどの雨だったようだ。
が、村石の畑ではまだ降っていない。
午後6時頃になって降り始め、雷も
なり始めたので作業を止めた。
しかしさらに南に位置する八町山の上には青空が覗く。
西を向いて長野市方面はだいぶ暗い雨雲だ。

日滝へ帰る道すがら、坂田辺りの
上空は暗い雲。雨、雷。
トンネルを越えて日滝に入ると、
高山・山田方面は雲の中であった。

私の畑は各地域に分散しているので、
天気が違えば葡萄のできにも
大分差がある。こんな小さな地域
の中でも気候の差がこんなに大きいことに
改めて驚かされる。

It rained this morning and in the
afternoon in Suzaka. In such a small
local town, there is difference in
weather, especially when it rains.

Suzaka city is roughly divided in
two fan like area. From south to north,
the city is sorrounded by Hatcho-yama and
Sakata to Myokaku and Myotoku mountains which
is first fan, and by Sakata and Karita yama
(Obuse town) which is called Hitaki Fan.

In the first fan, there are three rivers namely
Ayu-kawa, Dodo-kawa, and Haino-kawa which merges
into Dodo-kawa. In Hitaki fan, there are two rivers
called Yagisawa-kawa and Matsu-kawa. These two fans
form slopes down to Chikuma-kawa River.
Therefore Suzaka is on the slope and is the slope
city.

It has been said that you will have more
snow by 10cm deep whenever you cross the
river from south to north in winter. And
I have found that the rainfall pattern is also
different.

It seemed to rain heavily in Hitaki area
for around one hour at 8am but I had very
little rain in Nobe area which is in the
first fan. Somebody told me that
the road was wet in the north of Sakata tunnel
but after the tunnel the road was dry.

It raind in Hitaki area at around 4pm and so
did it at around after the tunnel but we
did not have rain at around Muraishi which in
in the south-east direction from Sakata toward
Minenohara Highland.

After 5pm, it rained so heavily that
the women helpers should have given
up their work at Sakata but there was
no rain at Muraishi. It started to rain
there only after 6pm with the big sound
of thunder. I gave up working but I found
blue sky above Hatcho-yama. Towards west,
Nagano city, it was very dark with thick
clouds.

On the way back to Hitaki area, dark clouds
were over Sakata area. After tunnel toward
north, I found Takayama and Yamada area
were in the clouds.

I have vineyards scattered in
the city so the grape in each area
is different. I was amazed with
the differenece in the weather
even in such small region.
