投稿の詳細: ジャガイモ畑の草取り　Pulling weeds in potato farm

今日は葡萄の苗植え位置を決めたり、
2年目の台木を友人の畑に
植えた。6月頃高接ぎをする予定。

また、4月7日に植えたじゃがいも畑の
草取りをした。といっても、
それぞれの仕事が済んだ
夕方5時から2時間弱ほど。

ロータリーをかけたのでそれほど
伸びてはいないのだが、「うまずいこ」
と呼ぶほうれん草に似た草を今の
うちに抜いてしまおうと5人ほど
集まった。この草は前回ロータリーを
かけたときに根っこが切られて
ばらばらになっているのだが、
その根っこの一片から伸びてきて、
どんどん根を伸ばしてゆく。
放っておくと畑中「うまずいこ」に
なってしまうのだ。

そんななか、ジャガイモの
芽が出ているのを発見。
まだ、たった3つほど。
全て「インカのめざめ」だ。
植えてから3～4週間が芽が出る
目安なので、さすが早生種
一番早かった。

I prepared for the new vineyard
today again and planted two year-old
rootstocks in my friend's vineyard.

We did weed pulling today in the
potato farm for about 2 hours at 5pm
after own works.

Weeds are not so much as we did machine
cultivation before potato planting. But we
thought it better to pull "umazuiko" weed
which looks similar to spinach. When we
cultivated, its roots were cut into pieces.
But they grow on each root piece rapidly
and stretch its roots all over the farm. So
it is very troublesome weed.

While we were pulling "umazuiko" weed,
some found the sprouting of potatoes.
The total number we found today was just
three but that spount made us very happy.
The three are all "Dawn of Inca". Potato
usually has its sprount in three to four
weeks after planting. As we planted on
April 7, its almost three weeks.
"Dawn of Inca" is said to be very early
variety among the potatoes. We hoped
that they would grow trouble free until
harvest.
