昨日は雪、今日も午後3時頃から
雪でした。

午前中シャルドネ畑に行って
気象データをUSBメモリに採ってきました。

稲のいもち病の対策として開発された
稲の葉っぱの濡れセンサーつきのを
葡萄畑で試用してます。

その名前は何と「タケダ君」。
開発には確かにタケダさんという方が
関わっているらしい。

「ニュータケダ君」というのもあるらしい。

葡萄用だと、べと病の予防に、温度と
湿度のデータは有用ではありますが…。
とりあえずは去年8月から試しています。

今のところ、最高気温は37.7度、最低気温は
マイナス9.6度です。地温はせいぜい上が27度で、
下はプラス1.5度。

地表のマイナス9.6度というのはかなりやばいです。
葡萄の樹は、マイナス13度を下回ると、凍害といって
樹が死んでしまいます。葡萄栽培農家は「ねむり病」と
呼びます。春になっても芽が出てこないからです。

この畑より標高の高い畑がやはり心配です。
2年前にはそこが凍害にやられて2割以上
やられました。

オーストラリアでは、「10年に一度でも
マイナス10度になるような場所には
葡萄畑を作るな」というくらいです。

でも、長野ではしょうがないですよね。
そういうリスクはあるんです。

It snowed yesterday and it began snowing this afternoon.
This morning I went to Chardonnay vineyard and collected some
weather data from a weather stataion rented from a local
company. It was originally developed to forecast certain rice
disease by sensing the temperature, humidity and the wet condition of rice leaves. It is called Takeda-kun. Certain Mr. Takeda seemed to be involved in developping this weather stataion.

I am trying to find out how to utilize it for grapevines. So far mildew on grapevines can be detected logically by sensing temperature and
the humidity. But I don't know how effective this machie is for
grapegrowing at the moment.

According to the data, the maximum temperature is 37.7 C degree and the lowest is minus 9.6 C degree. It is dangerous. Grapevines can be damaged by cold injury if the ambient temperature goes down below minus 13 C degree. One of my other vineyrds is located at the higher altitude where may baby vines were killed by the low temperature two years ago. I hope it will not happen this time.

In Australia, grape growers are told not to develop vineyard if you had minus 10 C degree even once in ten yeards. But what can we do in Nagano. We've got to face such a risk from time to time.
Hope my vines will survive this winter.
