投稿の詳細: いよいよシーズン入り　The season is in !

昨日今日と葡萄畑に農薬散布しました。今年第1回目の散布です。散布の準備をしていると多くの農家の方達と会います。皆さんも散布の真っ最中です。「いよいよ始まったね」「始まりましたね～」というのがお互いに交わす言葉です。SS(スピードスプレイヤー）で散布するのですが、昨日と今日は朝が寒くて大変でした。散布は、圧力をかけた薬液が小さいノズルから勢い良く出るときに霧状になるのですが、とても寒くてノズルを出た途端に氷になってしまい、樹もssも氷漬けになってしまいました。で、陽が十分上って暖かくなってからやり直しでした。今日も、午前8時なのに日陰の水溜りには氷が張っていました。

楠ヴィニヤーズでは、できるだけ化学薬品の使用量は少なくしようとしていますので、他の産地よりは断然防除回数の少ないといわれれている長野県の防除基準より散布量は更に少なくしています。防除は害虫や木の病気に対する予防です。当園では、樹や葉っぱの状況を見ながら何をどれくらい散布するかを決めるIPM(Integrated pest management)という防除の考え方をなるべく持ち込もうとしていますが、雨の多く病気の発生しやすい梅雨時の防除は大変です。何といっても散布のできる晴れ間が限られていますから。　

下の写真は、そうやって防除していても虫にやられてしまった苗木です。木の根元、周囲の土の黒い色とまぎれてしまって分かりづらいですが、穴があるのが見えますか？卵から孵った蛾の幼虫が木に穴を開けて中に巣をつくってそこで大きくなるんです。これにやられると確実に木は死んでしまいます。毎年何本かやられます。特に虫の入りやすい幼木のときにやられることが多いです。此の蛾は、飛行しながら卵を産み散らかすので、どこからか飛んできてどこに生みつけられるのか分かりませんので厄介です。

せっかく大事に育てていても、秋になって葉っぱの色が変だな～と思って根元をみるとこんな穴が開いているとがっかりです。

The season is in again! I sprayed agricultural chemicals yesterday and today for my Kyoho and wine vineyards respectively. We, fruit growers, describe the first spraying by saying "It's started again this year." "Yeah,the season has started again !", etc. The season means the growing season. We have to spray chemical and non-chemical substances in the vineyards according to the Spray Calender published by JA which is based on the local government institution's suggestion. It is often said that Nagano's spray schedule stipulates the least amount of spray in Japan. Nobody likes spraying except for the manufactueres but the pest management is necessary to secure the sound harvest.

At Kusunoki vineyards, however, I am trying to incorporate the idea of Integrated Pest Management-IPM and trying to use less amount of agricultural sprays by negotiating the conditions of the vines and the leaves during the growing season. It's very hard, though, especially during the rainy season when we don't have much choice on the suitable sunny days.

The picture shows the hole made by a larva of a moth despite of the pest management. This larva loves young vines and makes a hole as its home which kills the young vine. This moth lays its eggs elsewhere while it is flying. So you have to fight against these larvae every year. In autumn, you can see the reddish leaves whose vine was attacked by this larva while the other sound vines have brilliant green leaves. After all the efforts of growing young vines, it is a really disappointing and discouraging sight. The larva also attacks old vines, too. You can find holes on the big kyoho trunk and/or big branch some times which makes us very sad, too!
