なんだか今年のシャルドネは大きいような。
写真の様に肩がこんなに大きいなんて
初めてじゃないかな～。こういう房が結構多い。

開花期の雨で流れた房が多い一方で、
房型が例年より大きい気がする。ちょっと
ベトが出ているので、今後収穫までに
無事に熟してくれることを祈ってます。

葡萄の粒の表面にある白い斑点は
この間打ったボルドーで、これは
病気ではありませんよ。念のため。

It seems that chardonnay this year has bigger bunches
than those of usual year. I find such big shoulders for the
first time. There are many similar bunches with big shoulers.

There are many shattered bunches due to the rain at the
flowering time but on the other hand I find many big bunches.
I only hope they will grow in good condition and
be harvested without disease or other problems.

The small white spots on the surface of berries are splash of
Bordeaux spray but not disease. This bunch is in good health
at the moment.

今日巨峰の園地点検。
適正着果量の検査を行う。
これで合格して袋を掛けられる。
今年は、親子房を落とした農家が
多いようだ。という私は落としすぎでした。

いつもより遅れていたとび玉も今日はじめて
見ました。よそのお宅の畑ですが。

明日から本格的に袋掛けと笠かけです。

There held an inspection of kyoho vineyards in
my area around here which is to count the number
of bunches and berries of certain area of a vineyard.
Once you pass, you can start wrapping. Many growers
Seem to drop millrendage bunches. I may have dropped
too many.

I found the color change of berry which was delayed this
year in an other’s vineyard.

Any how, I can start wrapping tomorrow.

長梢剪定の新梢の状況。
枝の先端（左端）の方の新梢の方が
長くて勢いがいいのがわかりますか？

枝の先端の芽が先に発芽して、それが
植物ホルモンを作り出して、それより
下（根元に近い方）にある芽の成長を
妨げるからこうなると言われています。

葡萄はつる植物なので、放っておくと巻きひげで
何かにつかまって太陽を求めて
上に上に向かって行く性質があります。
それで新梢の成長が不ぞろいなんです。

and more vigorous shoots at the tip of
the cane (left).

Bud on the cane tip burst first which produce
certain plant hormone to restrict the growth of
the lower buds. Therefore shoots growth is so
different.

As the grape is the vine plant which tends to
grow upwards for sun shine by
grabbing support with its tendrils,
therefore cane tip shoot grows first and
which consequently result in the different
shoot growth.

Here are unfamiliar photos
for the Japanese grapegwers.
This training system is called bush vine
which is considered good for grenash.
The vine maybe grenash and rather younger
vines in Barossa Valley. The black tube
is the drip irrigation tube.

The photo below shows the vineyard
with sod plant grown in inter rows during
winter.

剪定の話が続いたので
ちょっと特別なケースを。

剪定をまるっきりしないと
どうなるか。際限なく新梢が
伸びてゆくのか。という訳では
なくて、もじゃもじゃという
感じになるだけです。

(ミニマルプルーニングの畑。　ヘッジングの前。）

剪定しない→翌年の芽数が
多い→新梢が沢山出る→
樹勢が強くならない→
新梢は短く細くなり櫛間も
短くなる→葡萄の粒も実も
小さくなる。

まるっきりしないというのは
ないですが、最小限しかやらない
というのはあります。やるのは
ヘッジングと言って、畝間に
機械が入る程度に刈上げる
くらいです。

ミニマル・プルーニング（最小剪定）
というのですが、以外な事に品質の
高い葡萄が取れます。難点は、
もじゃもじゃとなった樹冠の内部
にスプレーがかからないので
防除が難しいという点です。

Here is a case of special pruning.

What do you think if a vine did not
receive pruning ? Do you think new shoots
grow endlessly ? No, it is not like that.
The canopy becomes shaggy. That's all.

No prning →too many buds left
for next year →too many new shoots→
devigorated shoots→small and thin
shoots plus short internode →
small berry and bunch.

There is no no pruning but
little pruning called minimal
pruning. Only mechanical hedging
is applied for smooth path of
vehicles.

To our surprise, minimal pruning
can produce high quality grapes.
However, the spraying inside the
shaggy canopy is very difficult.
